PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for eliminating a foreign material such as dust adhering to an imaging element or its cover. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with an imaging unit 21 integrated with a cover member 12 and the imaging element 13. The imaging unit 21 can be rocked in parallel with an imaging face by an actuator 18. In a camera-shake correction mode, the imaging unit 21 is rocked in parallel with the imaging face on the basis of a signal from an angular velocity sensor 19 to correct a camera-shake. In a foreign material elimination mode, the imaging unit 21 is moved over a camera-shake correction range to be struck on a fixed frame and an impact force is given to the imaging unit 21.
