PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module capable of obtaining stable imaging characteristics as a lens for a camera. SOLUTION: The camera module is equipped with a variable focus type liquid crystal lens 3 holding a liquid crystal layer between a plurality of rectangular transparent substrates; and a camera unit 10, having a lens frame 4 in which an optical lens system 2 is provided internally, in such a state that the center of an optical axis is aligned; and an imaging device 6 mounted to be adjusted to the optical lens system 2. Furthermore, the camera module is equipped with a holding case 9, having a fitting hole 93 in which a part of the camera unit 10 is fit, and a mount part on which the liquid crystal lens 3 is positioned and fixed. The camera module is constituted so that the optical axis of the liquid crystal lens 3 and the optical axis of the optical lens system 2 are aligned to each other, by fitting a fitting part 73 of the camera unit 10 in a fitting hole 93 of the holding case 9 and assembling the camera unit 10 in the holding case 9.
