Photosensitiser for photolacquer or photoresist compsn. consists of an azo- or cyanine dye contg. >=1 azide gp. bonded to an aromatic ring and present in 0.5-10 wt.% concn. Photosensitivity and adhesion to substrate are improved. Photosensitisers described in examples include: 7-azido-1-(p-dimethylamino-phenylazo)-2-naphthol. prepd. by reacting 7-OH-2-naphthylamino. HCl with NaNO2, filtering followed by reaction of filtrate with NaN3, and reaction of prod. obtd with diazonium salt of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylene diamine.
