1370977 Coated products SOC D'ETUDES DU PROCEDE NORIDEM 29 Sept 1972 [6 Oct 1971 28 July 1972] 45127/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division B6] A decorative composition comprises a flexible support, particularly of paper, aluminium, regenerated cellulose, polyester terephthalate or polyolefine sheet, or laminates thereof, provided on one of its surfaces with a first coating of a mixture of nitrocellulose and either an aminoplast or an alkyd resin, a second coating constituted by a detachable film of pigmented vinyl resins with a preferably multi-coloured pattern or design and an outer coating of a thin adhesive layer containing at least one resin which is soluble in organic solvents and which possesses a pendulum hardness according to K÷nig (DIN 53, 157) of at least 85 seconds, which resin may particularly be polyethylacrylate or poly-methyl-, -ethyl- or -butyl-methacrylate. The aminoplast of the first coating may be a melamine- or ureaformaldehyde resin and the coating is applied by means of printing cylinders or by a rotagravure, photogravure or offset process. This layer may be coated with a protective varnish of vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer before printing on of the design to be transferred using pigmented inks consisting of polyvinyl chloride or vinylchloride-vinyl acetate copolymer. The pigment may be organic or of TiO 2 or aluminium powder. The outer adhesive coating may contain cellulose acetobutyrate and silicic acid. The sheet may be used to form transfers on ABS, polycarbonate, PVC, or polystyrene (especially foamed polystyrene) surfaces. |
