1394649 Cable terminations ANACONDA CO 17 May 1973 [7 June 1972] 23488/73 Heading H2E Liquid 36 in a hollow conductor 31 of a pothead termination boils to absorb heat, is recondensed in a condenser 44 with fins 46 outside the insulator 22, and returns through a tube 42 (shown incompletely). The conductor 31 is constructed in sections, silver soldered together. A stress cone (52, Fig. 2, not shown) carries copper mesh tape (50). An oil-impregnated capacitor 29 and a corona ring 71 are provided. The termination may be used for a 230 kV. oilfilled cable running in a pipe. A temperature monitoring pilot wire 72 running through the pothead is led to a radio transmitter 76. The liquid 36 may be CCl 3 F, CCl 2 F 2 , CClF 3 or a mixture thereof and may have a vapour pressure of 200 p.s.i. at 65‹ C. |
