1441873 Diamino-benzophenones RICHTER GEDEON VEGYESZETI GYAR RT 9 July 1974 [26 July 1973] 30288/74 Heading C2C Diamino - benzophenones of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are each a saturated or unsaturated straight chain or branched aliphatic hydrocarbon group, aralkyl, saturated or unsaturated cycloaliphatic or aryl, or R 1 and R 2 , together with the N-atom to which they are attached, form an optionally substituted heterocyclic ring which may include further O or N hetero atoms; R 3 is H or an acyl group derived from a C 1 -C 18 carboxylic acid, or an acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium salt thereof, are prepared by reducing a nitro compound of general formula and if desired the compound obtained is acylated with a C 1 -C 18 carboxylic acid or reactive derivative thereof and, if desired, the free base is converted to its acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium salt, or, if desired, the acid addition salt is converted to the free base. Amongst numerous examples the compounds 3 - amino - 4 - (N,N - diisobutylamino)- benzophenone, 3 - amino - 4 - (N - methylpiperazino)-benzophenone ethobromide and 3- palmitoylamino - 4 - morpholino - benzophenone are prepared. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound of Formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium salt thereof, together with an inert carrier and/or diluent.
