1469901 Preparing virus proteins SCIENCE UNION ET CIE SOC FRANCAISE DE RECHERCHE MEDICALE 3 March 1975 [5 March 1974] 8743/75 Heading C3H [Also in Division A5] A process for obtaining virus proteins from influenza virus comprises submitting the virus cultures to the action of a proteolytic enzyme or a mixture of proteolytic enzymes obtained from cultures of Streptomyces fradiae, concentrating the fractions containing neuraminidase and hemagglutinin by diafiltration in aqueous solution on a selectively permeable membrane with a reticular structure, collecting the fraction retained by the diafiltration cell membrane and submitting that fraction to fractionation by physical methods to collect successively a fraction containing substantially the virus hemagglutinin and a fraction containing substantially the virus neuraminidase. The period of time for which the enzyme acts on the virus culture may be prolonged to such an extent as to break down the hemagglutinin.
