PURPOSE:To provide a device for taking up a seat belt, which can eliminate the oppressive sensation applied to a passenger at seat belt attaching time with its durability by providing a coupling mechanism for controlling the compression amount of second spring thereof. CONSTITUTION:A take-up reel 2 is rotatably supported at a body 1 to take up a seat belt 3. Elastic means is provided between the body 1 and the reel 2 to impart different elastic strengths selected to the reel 2 with first spring member 6 of strong elastic strength and second spring member 7 of weak elastic strength. Control means 8, 9, 11, 5 control the composite elastic strength of the members 6 and 7 to apply the weak elastic strength to the reel 2 after the belt 3 is drawn out and strong elastic strength to the reel 2 after the belt 3 is taken up. |
