The insert is used to heat or cool a fermenter by means of a circulating device for the fermenter contents. The heating or cooling insert consists of vertical manifold chambers (3, 4) and cambered heat exchange surfaces (2), which are joined to the latter and together enclose a circular cylindrical cavity. The inner wall (11) of the cylindrical insert can be constructed smooth for the purpose of easier cleaning. The heat output of the heating or cooling insert can be controlled by providing the insert with a ventilating or de-aerating line (6), as a result of which the effective surface of the heating or cooling insert is varied. <IMAGE> |
