The present invention relates to a device for collecting heat in waste water containing fibres, in particular washwater from laundries. The device comprises a heat exchanger consisting of two substantially horizontal pipes 1, 2 arranged one inside the other for heat exchanging between the waste water and arriving fresh water. The device further comprises a substantially vertically arranged rising pipe 3 (compartment for maintaining water head) to which the arriving end of the pipe for the waste water is connected.
