<p>The feed picks up a sheet metal blank (3), aligns it and deposits it on a plinth mandrel (5), the blank having a polygonal window (18) of the mandrel profile. A sprung (10) annular slide (8) is mounted on a guide shaft (13) in a housing (7), and a guide bore locates a sprung centre point (4,15). Demountable "pick-up" fingers slide (1) on ramped guide faces (14), have inboard arms (11) located by slide (8) bore inlets. The tip (2) of the guide is placed in the window (18), and slide descent causes the fingers (1) to emerge and effect the "pick-up". The assembly is next moved and oriented over the mandrel (5) with sprung point (4) effecting centring. Finally annular slide ascends to retract the fingers (1), and sprung studs (9) eject the blank.</p> |
