PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance, by cultivating a microorganism belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, Arthrobacter, etc., and having the ability to produce the titled substance in a culture medium containing one or more L-glutamic acid, D-pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid, etc. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, e.g. Corynebacterium glutamicum, Arthrobacter citreus or Brevibacterium lactofermentum, belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, Arthrobacter, Brevibacterium, Microbacterium or Saccharomyces, and capable of producing L-proline is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon source, a nitrogen source, an inorganic substance, etc. utilizable by the microorganism to be used and further at least one of L-glutamic acid, L-, D- or DL-pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid. The produced L-proline in the culture medium is collected by the well- known methods, e.g. the ion exchange resin method. |
