A commutator for electrical machines is proposed, to whose segments (2) ends (11; 12) or loops (9) of the winding wire (10) are mechanically and electrically conductively attached. The segments (2) have connecting tabs (3) which are bent at an angle to the contact surface (4) and in whose longitudinal sides in each case one groove (8) is constructed in which a winding wire (10) is accommodated. The connection between the winding wire (10) and the commutator segment (2) is produced by hot staking, an electrode being pressed onto the end (7) of the connecting tab (3). <IMAGE>
