PURPOSE:To improve the crack resistance without lowering the wear resistance, road holding force, wet gripping property and the like by a method wherein thin film protective layer made of crack resisting rubber composition containing non-dien type rubber is formed in the tread groove of the tire. CONSTITUTION:The thin film protective layer made of rubber composition, which is mainly composed of non-dienic rubber such as halogenated butyl rubber or the like alone or of a blended material of said rubber with natural rubber, is formed in the internal surface of the tread groove 2 from the groove bottom part 2b to the side walls 2a. In this case, the non-dienic rubber is rendered to occupy no less than 20wt% of the total rubber constituents. Consequently, the tread of the tire has improved ozone crack resistance. Degradation of flex crack resistance and the wear resistance, road holding force and wet gripping property are prevented, resulting in improving the crack resistance of the tire. |
