PURPOSE:To make the vertical magnetization recording due to high-linearity pulse width modulation possible with a simple structure, by using the carrier where the ratio of an effective recording width (g) to a wavelength lambdac is an integer approximately. CONSTITUTION:The input signal amplified by an amplifier 1 in the recording system using a magnetic tape as a vertical magnetization medium 10 is sent to a modulator 2 and is subjected to the pulse width modulation by the carrier generated by a carrier generator 3 and is sent to a recording and reproducing head 11 through a recording amplifier 4. The wavelength lambdac of the carrier generated by the carrier generator 3 is so set that the ratio g/lambdac of the effective recording width (g) to the wavelength lambdac is an integer approximately, and the reproducing sensitivity is set to 0 for a wavelength obtained by dividing the effective recording width (g) by the integer. Thus, since the carrier having the wavelength lambdac(=g/integer) is not reproduced but only the input signal is reproduced, no demodulators are necessary for reproduction, and signals are recorded and reproduced easily with a high fidelity. |
