PURPOSE:To obtain a small size motion converting device, which is excellent in balance, has a large load-carrying capacity, and allows some degree of freedom in the relationship of conversion by a structure wherein rolling balls are inserted in the guide grooves of a rotating shaft and at the same time a movable object, which is axially shiftable and holds the rolling balls, is provided onto the outer periphery of the rotating shaft. CONSTITUTION:A rotating shaft 1 is so constituted that its rotation is allowed but its axial shifting is not allowed. Guide grooves 4-4'', along which rolling balls 3-3'' roll, are provided on the cylindrical outer surface of the rotating shaft 1 at positions counterbalancing one another. On the other hand, a movable object 2 is so constituted that its axially reciprocating motion along the rotating shaft 1 is allowed but its rotation is not allowed. The rolling balls 3-3'' are rollably held to the movable object 2 at certain fixed positions respectively. The respective guide grooves 4-4'' are constituted so as to keep to take certain fixed phase angles alpha, beta, and gamma at all times in any plane cut normal to the shaft and to show sinusoidal axial displacements in relation to the peripheral rotating angle. Due to the structure as mentioned above, the mutual conversion between the rotary motion and the reciprocating motion through rolling friction with the rolling balls 3-3'' and the guide grooves 4-4'' is accomplished within a small space. |
