The fence extension piece fits at one end onto a post and supports wire at the other (3) fitting over the post (2). One or more recesses in the first part accommodate mating protrusions (9) on the second one. There can be more recesses (8) in the first part than there are protrusions on the second one. The protrusions can be flat ribs at right angles to the surface of the second part joining onto cylindrical portions at the ends, the recesses being correspondingly shaped.
