<p>IMPROVEMENT IN THE OPERATION OF A HIGH SPEED PAPER MAKING MACHINE The disclosure teaches a method of improving the operation of a high speed paper forming machine using synthetic forming fabrics by replacement of the perforated vacuum couch roll with a solid power or drive roll preceded immediately upstream by a specially designed static slotted couch box, having one or more narrow slot openings with land areas of wear resistant material having low coefficient of friction with the forming fabric, and operating with a source of vacuum in the order of 15 to 30 inches of mercury.</p> |
