PURPOSE:To enhance the injection characteristics by forming a plunger pump for compression of fuel in the casing retaining a nozzle cylinder, allowing the pump to operate in accordance with pressure variation within the combustion chamber, and thereby eliminating the dead volume otherwise generated. CONSTITUTION:This injector 8 has a cylindrical casing 10 partitioned by a plunger 11 into a fluid compressing chamber 12 and a nozzle accommodation chamber 14. The plunger 11 is equipped with a pushing part 21 in consolidated construction, which is fitted with possibility of coming out of an retracting into a plunger chamber 18 in a nozzle cylinder 17 furnished at the nozzle 13 in said accommodation chamber 14, and downward intrusion of this pushing part 21 into the lower part of the plunger chamber 18 pressurizes the fuel in the chamber 18 to lead to pressure fitting into a needle valve chamber 20 from a pressure fitting path 22. This causes a needle valve 19 to be pushed up, and the fuel is injected from a jet 30. This plunger 11 is so arranged as to operate according to the pressure in the abovementioned fluid pressure chamber 12, whereto the pressure variation in a pressure receipt chamber 9 formed at the combustion chamber is conducted via a pressure conductive path 15.
