PURPOSE:To maximize the total heat insulating efficiency of a positive displacement supercharger, by controlling the displacement of the supercharger by the rotation of a rotary member, and rotating a high-pressure rotary member. CONSTITUTION:A rotary member 26 is rotated in cooperation with an accelerator pedal, and a high-pressure rotary member 22 is also rotated. As a result, pressure in a suction part of a positive displacement supercharger is equalized to pressure in a discharge part thereof. When further charging is demanded, the rotary member 26 is further rotated to reduce a quantity of new charge in a pump chamber 8 escaping into a low-pressure space 29. Accordingly, the new charge is discharged through a discharge port 12, an opening/closing port 10 and a high-pressure control port 23 into a high-pressure space 28. When a maximum quantity of new charge is demanded, the escape port 24 is shut off, and the discharge port 12 is registered with the high-pressure control port 23 by the rotation of the high-pressure rotary member 22. As a result, the new charge is supplied from the high-pressure space 28 through a charging passage 18 to an engine E.
