PURPOSE:To impart high resistance to lead poisoning to the title catalyst by depositing a noble metal component such as platinum on the monolithic carrier coated with an activated alumina film contg. a Co oxide and an Mn oxide. CONSTITUTION:A noble metal component among Pt, Pt-Rh, Pt-Ir, and Pt-Rh-Ir is deposited on the monolithic carrier coated with the alumina film contg. a Co oxide and an Mn oxide and wherein the molar ratio of the Mn oxide to the total amt. of the Co oxide and Mn oxide is controlled to 0.05-0.5. The catalyst is used for making the CO, HC, and NOx discharged from an internal- combustion engine harmless and especially used for purifying CO and HC by oxidation. The catalyst also has high resistance to lead poisoning. |
