PURPOSE:To perform the continuous seam welding with the satisfactory prescribed plate thickness by operating a spring energization load gage signal of rotating electrodes to press plural plates to be welded to detect the plate thickness and controlling a welding source to eliminate a delay circuit to complicate the structure. CONSTITUTION:The plural plates 2 to be welded are pressed by the rotating electrodes 1 and 1' and electrified with the welding source and seam-welded. At that time, the pressing force via a spring 6 of the rotating electrodes 1 and 1' is measured with a load gage 8 and the plate thickness variation obtained by dividing the pressing variation by a pressing spring constant is calculated with a plate thickness arithmetic part 14 and the welding source is controlled by an action of a controller 15 and the plates 2 to be welded are made in a satisfactory welded state with the prescribed thickness. The plates 2 to be welded are subjected to the continuous seam welding to the prescribed thickness without providing the conventional delay circuit.
