<p>PURPOSE:To extend the life of a recording head to enhance a reliability, by method wherein a plurality of short line-type recording heads are so arranged as to conduct printing over the all range of heads while being partially overlapped with each other, and a shift printing can be carried out by shifting an printing position in a recording medium width direction by an arbitrary amount. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of recording heads are arranged in staggered form and respectively provided with a recording element groups A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1, C2, which overlap on the recording head opposed thereto. When a sensor circuit detects that the feed amount of a recording medium reached a set feed amount, blank data quantity for the blank data printing parts A1, A2, and C1, C2 on the side of the recording heads 11, 13 at which the recording medium has reached the set feed amount unit then is increased/decreased from an initial position value by the set amount, whereby printing areas A and C are shifted in the same direction. Furthermore, blank data quantity head 12 is controlled to be increased/decreased at the time that the recording medium was carried by a shift amount between the recording heads in a recording medium feed direction, whereby a printing area B is also similarly shifted.</p> |
