PURPOSE:To contrive the mass production and to reduce the light scattering in a boundary part by pressing a ball against a glass substrate being in a state that it has been softened by heating. CONSTITUTION:A mask 12 in which holes 13 have been formed at desired positions is allowed to adhere closely onto a glass substrate 10 on which a glass thin film waveguide 11 has been formed, a ball 14 is placed in the hole 12, and the glass substrate 10 is heated to its softening temperature by a heater, etc. Subsequently, the ball 14 is pressed against the softened glass substrate and pushed in to prescribed depth, and thereafter, the glass substrate 10 is cooled slowly to a room temperature and the ball 14 and the mask 12 are removed. In such a way, a boundary part of the curved surface of the spherical lens and the plane of its periphery is connected smoothly by surface tension and light scattering in the boundary part is drastically reduced, and also, the mass-producing property is improved. |
