<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect ink mist or the like without separately providing a duct. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a carriage including a recording head that discharges liquid droplets for forming an image on a recording medium; a rail that supports the carriage in such a manner that the carriage reciprocates; a fixing means that fixes the rail in the image forming apparatus; and an air stream creation means that creates an air stream. The fixing means is hollow, has a first inflow opening and a discharge opening, and a sub-droplet which does not contribute to image formation is made to flow from the first inflow opening and discharged from the discharge opening by the air stream created by the air stream creation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
