The present invention relates to a method for managing data traffic in a computing network, wherein the data traffic is transmitted in the computing network via flows of packets, and wherein the one or more packets are processed by one or more network functions, wherein a) processing information for processing said one or more packets of said identified flow is determined, b) header information is stripped from said one or more packets c) tag information is added to said one or more packets, d) a mapping between said tag information and said header information is stored in a cache and e) said packets are processed by said one or more network functions according to said identified processing information, wherein said one or more network functions query said cache using saidtag information to retrieve information associated with the tag information from said cache if required to process said one or more packets. |
