PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of low-parity graphite, and to provide a highly durable MgO-C refractory by effectively utilizing the low-parity graphite. CONSTITUTION:A highly durable MgO-C refractory comprises 3-30wt.% of a scaly graphite or the mixture with graphite comprising >=80wt.% of solid carbon and ash in which >=50wt.% of the ash is Fe2O3 and in which <30wt.% of the ash is a mixture of SiO2 and Al2O3, 0.5-10wt.% (as aluminum metal) of an aluminum-containing metal, and the remaining amount of magnesia clinker. The refractory permits to prevent the lowering of corrosion resistance, reduce the contents of SiO2 and Al2O3 causing the lowering of the corrosion resistance, thus improve the corrosion resistance. |
