The pigment-bonded fluorescent material for color braun tubes is mfd. by (a) dispersing a red-fluorescent material of Y2O2S:Eu or Y2O3:Eu into a pure water to obtain a fluorescent material-dispersed soln. (A), (b) mixing an inorganic colloid soln. (B) and a pigment-dispersed soln. (C) with the soln. (A), and (c) adding a borate soln. (D) as a curing agent to the mixed soln. of (A),(B) and (C) to form an insoluble polymer (PVA) film on the pignent particles. The soln. (B) is composed of 5.0-20.0 wt.% CaCl2, 1.0-5.0 wt.% gelatin and 2.0-10.0 wt.% NaOH, and the soln. (C) is composed of 0.15-0.17 wt.% Fe2O3 (or ZnFe2O4 as a red pigment and 2.0-10.0 wt.% PVA.
