PURPOSE:To provide a graphite-ceramic composite material excellent in mechanical strength, sliding characteristics and electric conductivity. CONSTITUTION:Mesocarbon having 1-10mum average particle diameter is added to graphite having 1-10mum average particle diameter and >=2.00g/cc density by <=20wt.% of the total amt. of carbon and titanium carbide having 1-10mum average particle diameter is further added by 5-70wt.% of the total amt. of them. The resulting powdery mixture is sintered by hot pressing at >=2,000 deg.C to produce the objective graphite-ceramic composite material contg. 5-70wt.% titanium carbide having 10mum average particle diameter uniformly dispersed in graphite forming the matrix. |
