摘要 A method for determining a suitable position and/or orientation of a vehicle component, the method comprising the steps of capturing a 3D image of a vehicle occupant (e.g. with a sensor, camera(s), 3D camera 124), determining a morphological characteristic of the occupant based on the image, determining the suitable ergonomic component position and/or orientation according to the determined morphological characteristic, and preferably adjusting the component (e.g. seat, headrest, steering wheel, mirrors, SAT NAV, information display 22, instrument panel 20) into the suitable position. The morphological characteristic may comprise arm/leg length, torso/shoulder height, posture or a facial characteristic (e.g. eye/ear/nose/mouth shape/position, eye colour, iris pattern) and/or adjust the component following a detected change in the morphological characteristic. The mirrors may be adjusted such that the occupants field of view is unaffected by this change. A method for determining a morphological characteristic based on an occupants 3D image, associating it with a vehicle component position and storing the position and associated morphological characteristic in a memory is provided. The memory may be a networked storage device / a cloud facility.
