Provided are: an anion exchange resin that is capable of producing an electrolyte membrane for fuel cells, a binder for forming an electrode catalyst layer and a battery electrode catalyst layer, each of which has excellent durability; an electrolyte membrane for fuel cells, a binder for forming an electrode catalyst layer and a battery electrode catalyst layer, each of which is formed from this anion exchange resin; and a fuel cell which is provided with the electrolyte membrane for fuel cells or the battery electrode catalyst layer. A hydrophobic unit wherein divalent hydrophobic groups, each of which is composed of a single aromatic ring or a plurality of aromatic rings bonded with each other via a divalent hydrocarbon group, a carbon-carbon bond or the like, are bonded with each other via an ether bond is bonded, via a carbon-carbon bond, with a hydrophilic unit wherein divalent hydrophilic groups, each of which is composed of a single aromatic ring or a plurality of aromatic rings bonded with each other via a divalent hydrocarbon group or a carbon-carbon bond, with at least one of the aromatic rings having an anion exchange group, are bonded with each other via a carbon-carbon bond. |
