摘要 The invention relates to a method for heating exhaust gas carrying components in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, in particular a self-igniting internal combustion engine. In order to facilitate a rapid increase of the temperatures of exhaust gas components in a simple and effective way, at least in one partial load operating range with low engine load, according to the invention, the temperature (T) of the exhaust gas and/or an exhaust gas after-treatment device arranged in the exhaust gas system is measured. If the measured temperature (T) is beneath a defined threshold temperature (TS) of preferably 250⁰ C, particularly preferable below 200° C, at least one first heating mode (1) is started, wherein, as a function of the determined mean effective pressure (MEP) of the internal combustion engine, the start of the exhaust opening (EVO) of at least one exhaust valve is moved to early, based on a standard exhaust start (EVOS) in the full load operating range, with the internal combustion engine at operating state temperature.
