PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low-cost method of removing radioactive iodine and radioactive cesium together, which does not require any sources of energy such as electric power and is capable of reducing the volume of radioactive waste if needed, and to provide a hydrophilic resin composition used for the same.SOLUTION: A radioactive iodine/radioactive cesium removal method, which allows for removing both radioactive iodine and radioactive cesium contained in liquid and/or solid using a hydrophilic resin composition, and the hydrophilic resin composition capable of immobilizing radioactive iodine and radioactive cesium are disclosed. The hydrophilic resin composition contains one or more types of hydrophilic resin selected from a group of a hydrophilic polyurethane resin, a hydrophilic polyurea resin, and a hydrophilic polyurethane-polyurea resin, each containing a hydrophilic segment and having a tertiary amino group and a polysiloxane segment on a main chain and/or side chains of a structure thereof. The hydrophilic resin composition contains 1 to 180 pts.mass of a clay mineral dispersed therein per 100 pts.mass of the hydrophilic resin. |
