PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for an impact resistance fiber-reinforced plastic in which a fiber-reinforced plastic that is excellent in rigidity and impact resistance can be obtained without increasing weight; and an impact resistance fiber-reinforced plastic obtained from the same.SOLUTION: A base material for a fiber-reinforced plastic includes: a carbon fiber; a heat resistant organic fiber in which a melting point, a softening point or heat decomposition starting temperature is at least 250°C; and a thermoplastic fiber, and is a base material that can be made a fiber-reinforced plastic by melting the thermoplastic fiber, wherein the base material is made by laminating at least one layer of a nonwoven fabric layer comprising a carbon fiber and a thermoplastic fiber and at least one layer of a nonwoven fabric layer comprising a heat resistant fiber and a thermoplastic fiber respectively, and the following (1) and (2) are satisfied at the same time. (1) A weight of a carbon fiber : a weight of a heat resistant organic fiber=15:1-0.5:1, (2) the total weight of a carbon fiber and a heat resistant organic fiber : the total weight of a thermoplastic fiber=5:95-70:30; moreover an impact resistance fiber-reinforced plastic is made by subjecting the base material for a fiber-reinforced plastic molding to heat treatment or heat pressure treatment at temperature equal to or higher than a melting point or a softening point of a thermoplastic fiber of a fiber lay A or a fiber layer B. |
