<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide microcapsules that have high capsule strength and solvent resistance, allow production of an electrophoretic display device showing high contrast and a low leakage current even after being left to stand for a long period of time under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and can be preserved at room temperature over a long period of time in a specific form, and to provide a process for producing the microcapsules and their applications. <P>SOLUTION: Each of the microcapsules encloses a dispersion liquid containing electrophoretic particles and a solvent in a shell having an inner shell made of a mercapto group-containing amino resin and an outer shell made of an epoxy resin. Alternatively, the microcapsule shows a capsule strength of 0.6 MPa or higher. The microcapsules are produced by dispersing a dispersion liquid containing electrophoretic particles and a solvent as a core substance in an aqueous medium, and subsequently forming a shell on the surface of the core substance. The microcapsules can be used, as their applications, for sheets for electrophoretic display devices, electrophoretic display devices and electronic equipments. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
