PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently code mode information for identifying an intra-frame prediction method for a target block when much more prediction modes are provided in generation of an intra-frame prediction signal.SOLUTION: In a coding method, one prediction mode is determined from a plurality of prediction methods for a pixel signal of a target block, a prediction signal is generated according to the mode, a residual signal between the pixel signal of the target block and the prediction signal is calculated, the residual signal and the prediction mode are coded to generate a compressed signal, and the compressed signal is restored and stored as a reproduced pixel signal. In the coding method, a candidate prediction mode list including prediction modes of already reproduced adjacent blocks as components is generated, a flag indicating whether a component corresponding to the prediction mode of the target block is present on the list is coded, and if the corresponding component is absent, each component of the list is removed and remaining prediction modes are ordered from the minimum to the maximum, and then, the prediction mode of the target block is coded with a number allocated depending on a position after the ordering. |
