241,071. Synthetic Ammonia & Nitrates, Ltd., Slade, R. E., and Gordon, K. Jan. 30, 1925. Ammonia, catalytic production of from nitrogen and hydrogen.-The ammoniacal gases leaving the reaction chamber are passed at A into a tower X where they are treated under pressure with water or dilute ammonia solution to produce a solution containing 50 per cent. or more of ammonia. The solution may be cooled, as at D, and is then passed through reducing valves E, whereby the pressure is reduced to atmospheric, into a vessel Y. The ammonia evolved on the reduction in pressure may be absorbed at atmospheric pressure in a tower Z or otherwise utilized. The gases leaving the tower X contain a little ammonia and, before being returned to the reaction chamber, may be dried as described in Specification 240,350. |
