Identities and permissions

Techniques for identity management for permissions are described. According to various embodiments, a user establishes a communication relationship with another user, referred to herein as a “contact.” According to various embodiments, the contact is associated with multiple identities. Accordingly, embodiments discussed herein enable a primary identity to be specified such that permissions for the primary identity are enforced for interactions with the contact. Further, techniques discussed herein enable a primary identity to be updated based on a change in identity state of a contact.

at least one processor; and one or more computer-readable storage media including instructions stored thereon that, responsive to execution by the at least one processor, cause the system perform operations including:
receiving an indication that a communication relationship is established between a user and a contact of the user;resolving a set of multiple identities for the contact to specify a primary identity and one or more secondary identities for the contact;utilizing the primary identity to identify a permission set linked to the primary identity and that specifies one or more parameters for the communication relationship; andcausing the permission set to be enforced for one or more communication interactions between the user and the contact such that the permission set for the primary identity is given priority over a different permission set associated with the one or more secondary identities.
