A method of adjusting power of a neighbor discovery signal may include determining a maximum transmission power of a transmitting wireless device. The transmitting wireless device may be configured to transmit a neighbor discovery signal to one or more receiving wireless devices. The one or more receiving wireless devices may be discovered neighbor wireless devices of the transmitting wireless device and may be configured to receive the neighbor discovery signal. The method may further include determining a power level of the neighbor discovery signal based on the maximum transmission power of the transmitting wireless device and a number of the discovered neighbor wireless devices.

1. A method comprising:
determining a maximum transmission power of a transmitting wireless device configured to transmit a neighbor discovery signal configured to be received by one or more receiving wireless devices that are configured to receive the neighbor discovery signal; obtaining a number of previous neighbor wireless devices previously discovered by another transmitting wireless device, the previous neighbor wireless devices being discovered through reception, by the previous neighbor wireless devices, of a previous neighbor discovery signal transmitted by the other transmitting wireless device; determining, based on the number of previous neighbor wireless devices, a target number of receiving wireless devices that are discoverable neighbor wireless devices of the transmitting wireless device, the target number including a range of numbers; determining a power level of the neighbor discovery signal based on the maximum transmission power of the transmitting wireless device and based on the power level being such that the neighbor discovery signal is received by the target number of receiving wireless devices; and directing the transmitting wireless device to transmit the neighbor discovery signal at the determined power level.
