The present invention relates to a screen control method and a portable terminal to which the corresponding method is applied, the method enabling: a screen to be automatically turned on without using a home button if a terminal is within the set range of inclination, by using a sensor for sensing the inclination of the terminal by being embedded in a portable terminal such as a smart phone; and the screen to be automatically turned off even though a separate button is not used, if the terminal is deviated from the set range of inclination, thereby enabling the inconvenience of a smart phone needing to be turned ON/OFF by using a separate button to be removed, and an effect of saving battery to be expected. |
