PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus adjustment device capable of appropriately adjusting focus.SOLUTION: A focus adjustment device includes: an acquisition unit 21 which acquires a pair of pixel string data from a pair of photo-sensors 222a and 222b, each having a plurality of pixels arrayed in a predetermined direction; a focus detection unit 21 which detects an offset amount of an image plane of an optical system having a focus adjustment optical system by performing a correlation operation on the pair of pixel string data while shifting the pair of pixel string data from each other, and detects focusing condition of the optical system on the basis of a detected offset amount of the image plane of the optical system; and a control unit 21 which controls driving of the focus adjustment optical system on the basis of the result of focus detection made by the focus detection unit. In the process of detecting focusing condition of the optical system, the focus detection unit sets a shift range, within which the pair of pixel string data is shifted, in accordance with a second range which is wider than a predefined driving range of the focus adjustment optical system, or a first range, and performs a correlation operation on the pair of pixel string data within the shift range. |
