An image pickup system which generates a stereo image using two types of picked up images having disparity, includes a disparity adjusting unit 61 configured to perform adjustment so that a value of disparity between a left side image signal and a right side image signal which are two image signals having disparity becomes substantially zero, a comparing unit 62 configured to compare luminance values between the left side image signal and the right side image signal for which the disparity is adjusted to be substantially zero at the disparity adjusting unit 61, a white spot detecting unit 63 configured to detect a white spot on the image pickup device 25 based on information compared at the comparing unit 62, and a white spot correcting unit 64 configured to perform predetermined correction on a pixel where the white spot occurs based on the detection result at the white spot detecting unit 63. |
