Provided is a speed reduction mechanism that can be made lightweight and compact. A speed reduction mechanism (20) comprises: a first gear mechanism (21a) comprising a first sun gear (22), and a first pinion gear (24) meshing with the first sun gear (22); a second gear mechanism (21b) comprising a second sun gear (23), and a second pinion gear (25) meshing with the second sun gear (23); and a planetary carrier (26) that rotatably supports both the first and second pinion gears (24, 25) and can input and output rotary power to the first sun gear (22) and the second sun gear (23). The speed reduction ratio is apportioned by way of the first gear mechanism (21a) and the second gear mechanism (21b). |
