Provided is a friction pulley able to transmit high torques. A friction pulley (50) is provided with a rotatable turning wheel (40) having a groove (4) at the outer periphery, and a rubber ring (3) formed so as to be able to be accommodated in the groove (4). The present invention is characterized by the following: the groove (4) has a pair of side surfaces (16, 26); the rubber ring (3) is provided with a contact surface (33) crimped onto a rotating member in order to transmit power at the outer periphery, and friction surfaces (31, 32) that are a pair of surfaces corresponding to the groove (4); at least in a power transmission state where the contact section (33) is pressed to contact the rotating member in order to transmit power, the friction surfaces (31, 32) of the rubber ring (3) are pressed against the side surfaces (16, 26) of the groove (4); and the rubber ring (3) is provided with separation preventing means (51, 53) for preventing the rubber ring (3) from separating outward from the groove (4). |
