receiving transaction data from a payment network, the transaction data representing payment account transactions; associating a subset of the transaction data with a district in an urban area; generating a summary characteristic of the district on the basis of the associated subset of transaction data; representing the district on a map by a color or shade, said color or shade determined at least in part by said generated summary characteristic; receiving location information indicative of a user's current location from a user's mobile device; and transmitting the map to the user's mobile device for presentation to the user, the map configured based at least in part on the user's current location.
