The side sliding wall panel for a rail goods wagon has each cross strip (6) fully welded to the upper and lower longitudinal bands (e.g. 2) of the carrier frame. The joint surfaces of each flange (7) fit against an inner surface (8) stamped into the band to form a flat resting surface. The cover element (5) is stuck to the resting surface projecting from the joint surfaces.
