[Class 132 (ii).] A catching and throwing appliance which may be combined with a bat, comprises a handle b carrying a cup or pocket d, balls caught in which are caused to roll along guides g<2>, j or k to apertures or recesses h, j<1>, or k<1> respectively, preparatory to throwing. The cup consists of canvas, net or like material d secured on a cane, wire or like frame e, f attached to a wooden member c which may be used as a bat, the guides g<2>, j, k, being formed by glueing, nailing or otherwise securing members g, g<1>, g<3>, to the cup material d. A meshed hand guard l is provided. Alternatively, the cup may be formed either of rubber, the guide members being moulded integral therewith, or leather suitably reinforced. The stop apertures h, may be provided with crossbands to prevent balls passing therethrough, and, for use in water games, the cup d may have apertures d<5> to allow escape of water therefrom.
