The invention discloses an information providing method and an information providing system. The method comprises the following steps that in the process that a web page is displayed by a web server in accordance with a received user request, an additional information providing process is performed; the process comprises the following steps that position information of a user terminal which currently requests the web page is obtained by a position server, and address description information of a given information provider in the web page is obtained; additional information from the position of the user terminal to the position of the given information provider is obtained by the position server on the basis of the position information of the user terminal and the position information of the given information provider; the additional information is sent to the web server by the position server; and the additional information is added to the web page by the web server, so as to display the additional information in the web page requested by a user. According to the method and the system which are provided by the invention, richer information can be provided, and the data processing pressure of the web server cannot be obviously increased. |
