The present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, relates to a method and device for processing a flow table. The method comprises: a switch monitors a load of a flow table of the switch; if the load of the flow table of the switch exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the switch determines, according to a matching rule of a distribution flow table, a distribution object of a target data flow; and if the determined distribution object is a neighboring switch of the switch, then the switch forwards the target data flow to the neighboring switch. When the load of the flow table of the switch exceeds the predetermined threshold, the switch might be under attack, and therefore, a data flow failed to match a flow entry is forwarded, according to a distribution probability, to a neighboring switch to be processed by the neighboring switch, thus reducing the flow table entry update frequency of the switch, improving a hit rate of a normal data flow, and reducing the latency of forwarding a normal data flow. |
