PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method applied to an electric vehicle including an electric automobile and a hybrid automobile, for shutting down a power relay between a battery and an inverter on detection of a battery abnormality, the control method preventing a system voltage of an inverter from increasing to reach an excess voltage abnormality due to a back electromotive voltage generated by an electric motor when a power relay is shut down .SOLUTION: The control method includes the steps of: acquiring a back electromotive voltage Vbe generated accompanying the revolution of the electric motor (S02); permitting to drive the inverter (S04) when the acquired back electromotive voltage is a system voltage VH or lower (S03: YES), and executing field-weakening control to increase an absolute value of a d-axis current command having a negative value so as to cancel a positive field current generated accompanying the revolution of the electric motor, the d-axis current command for exciting the electric motor among d/q-axis current commands outputted by the electric motor control device to the inverter (S05); and shutting down a power relay (S06). |
